Weather Situation
The monsoon trough extends across the base of Cape York Peninsula, and will linger across northern Queensland for several days. It is likely to move northwards from the weekend. A weak ridge will persist over the east coast south of the trough, strengthening early next week.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday
Mostly cloudy in the far southern interior with isolated showers over the rest of inland southern Queensland. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, tending to only showers about eastern areas south of about Rockhampton to Charleville. Showers tending widespread and areas of rain at times north of St Lawrence, with moderate to heavy rainfall possible. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, fresh at times in the far west, and tending northerly about Far North Queensland.

Partly cloudy about the southern interior, with isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Granite Belt and southern Darling Downs. Scattered to widespread showers north of St Lawrence to Blackall, with isolated to scattered thunderstorms and areas of rain at times. Moderate to heavy rainfall is possible, most likely between Charters Towers and Moranbah. Isolated to scattered showers elsewhere. Maximum temperatures well below average about central and northern Queensland, tending near average elsewhere. Light to moderate north to northeasterly winds about northern and Far North Queensland, turning east to southeasterly about central and southern Queensland, fresh at times about the central interior.

Partly cloudy over the southwest. Isolated to scattered showers south of Mackay, with isolated thunderstorms about the Darling Downs and surrounding areas. Scattered to widespread showers elsewhere, with isolated to scattered thunderstorms north of Mackay. Moderate to heavy rainfall possible from Bowen to Innisfail and across to the northwest interior.
