Intensity: category 2, sustained winds near the centre of 95 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 130 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 55 kilometres of 14.8 degrees South, 103.3 degrees East , 550 kilometres south southwest of Christmas Island and 760 kilometres east southeast of Cocos (Keeling) Islands .
Movement: west at 22 kilometres per hour .

Tropical Cyclone Taliah, Category 2, lies well to the southwest of Christmas Island, and is tracking westward. The system has passed to the south of Christmas Island and there is high confidence it will continue westwards to pass south of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands during Friday.

Hazards:

Tropical Cyclone Taliah will not directly impact the Australian mainland nor any island communities.
