New Zealand Easter forecast

Good Friday

Friday will start mild in the north and fresh in the south. Temperatures will be in the mid to high teens in the north and low double digits in the south, dropping to single digits over the higher ground of the south Island.

Daytime temperatures should raise to the low to mid 20s in the north. With temperatures in the mid and high teens in the south. The higher ground will remain in the single digits.

A intense low pressure system in the Tasman will cause heavy showers in the early hours in the north. Tending to showers later on. Showers will effect most of the islands for the rest of the day.

Winds will be gusty and strong across the NE and East  coastal areas.

Easter Saturday

Saturday is likely to start off similar to Friday with high teens in the north and lower teens in the south. Single digits are expected across the high ground.

Daytime temps will raise to the low or mid 20s across the north and east of country, the palmerston area should see temperatures in the high 20s.  Low to mid teens are expected mostly elsewhere. With single digits in the highest areas.

Showers and rain. Will likely affect the whole island due to the continuing influence of a tasman low.

Wind’s will continue being gusty on the east side of the island.

Easter Sunday

Sunday will start off cooler in the north with minimums around the mid teens, cooler on higher ground. The south island will see similar temperature as the other days.

Daytime temps will be similar as Saturday. The Palmeraton area will be the hottest once again, seeing g temps of around 26. In the south of the country temperatures will be slightly cool in the low teens and single digits over high ground.

Rainfall will be showery across the country. With heavier falls in the south.

Winds will remain gusty across the east.

Easter Monday

Monday will start cooler over most of the island, being in the low to mid teens in the north and between 10 and the low teens in the south, with single digits over higher ground.

Daytime temperatures will increase to mid 20s over the north and mid teens in the south. It will be much cooler over higher ground.

Showers will be persistent across the country with higher falls in the north of the south island.
