Severe Weather Warning for Heavy Rainfall
Warning Area:
Herbert & Lower Burdekin, extending into the Northern Tropical Coast & Tablelands.

A significant weather system is currently impacting the region, resulting in the potential for heavy rainfall across the identified warning area. The yellow shading on the map indicates the regions most likely to experience severe weather conditions, primarily affecting the towns of Tully, Cardwell, Ingham, Townsville, and surrounding areas.
Forecast:
Heavy rainfall is expected to continue throughout the day, with accumulations of 50mm to 100mm likely in some areas. Isolated falls may exceed 250mm, particularly in localised thunderstorms. The intense moisture-laden air mass is conducive to the development of severe thunderstorms, which may produce heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and potential hail.

– Flash Flooding: There is a significant risk of flash flooding in urban areas and along waterways. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, especially in low-lying areas and near rivers and creeks.
